Your Financial Contribution Can Help Us Fund Critical Programs & Initiatives
At Nari Gunjan, we are dedicated to achieving positive change in four key sectors:
- Education: We believe in the transformative power of education. Our goal is to provide quality education to underprivileged children, especially girls, through initiatives like Kishori Kendras and Anand Shiksha Kendras. We aim to reduce dropout rates and increase school enrollment, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn and grow.
- Social: Our commitment to social change extends to eradicating discrimination and untouchability. We work to uplift marginalized communities, like the Musahars, by raising awareness, fighting against violence and discrimination towards women, and promoting leadership among them. We believe in a society where all individuals, regardless of their gender, caste, or social status, live with dignity and freedom.
- Livelihood: Economic independence is a crucial aspect of empowerment. We provide livelihood training and support for women through Self Help Groups (SHGs). By offering training in various skills, from producing sattu to making doormats, we help women access self-employment opportunities. Additionally, we encourage community farming, ensuring sustainable livelihoods for the Musahar community.
- Health: Health is a fundamental right, and we are committed to improving health outcomes in marginalized communities. We organize health camps, provide access to healthcare facilities, and spread awareness about diseases and preventive measures. Our focus includes addressing issues related to malnutrition, tuberculosis, and reproductive health, especially among Dalits and economically disadvantaged sections.
Educational Empowerment - Kishori Kendras
One of our foundational initiatives is the establishment of ‘Kishori Kendras.’ These centers are dedicated to providing educational opportunities to adolescent girls (aged 8-18) belonging to the Musahar community. The Musahars, among the Dalits, often face severe deprivation. They struggle with basic necessities, landlessness, and a lack of access to education.
Our ‘Kishori Kendras’ serve as beacons of hope. Operated by teachers from the same community, these centers focus on promoting functional literacy, including reading, writing, and arithmetic. In addition to academic skills, we engage the girls in various activities like music, drama, and storytelling, ensuring a holistic learning experience. This informal, value-based education also imparts essential knowledge about moral issues, sanitation, health, nutrition, and other critical subjects. The goal is to reduce dropout rates, increase school enrollment, and empower these young girls.
Transforming Lives - Anand Shiksha Kendras
Furthering our commitment to education, we’ve established ‘Anand Shiksha Kendras’ across Punpun and Bihta Blocks. These centers have touched the lives of around 3000 children, bringing a glimmer of hope to their educational journeys. Through these efforts, we strive to enhance the quality of education and promote a culture of learning.
Intervening for Change
Collaborating with Save the Children, we’re actively involved in improving the quality of education in government schools. Our influence extends to 50 primary and middle schools and ‘Aanganwadis’ in the Maner Block of Patna district. By working closely with these institutions, we aim to foster an environment conducive to learning and growth.
Shelters for Vulnerable Girls
Our ‘Prerana Hostels’ provide shelter and support to Musahar girls who are vulnerable and marginalized. We’ve established these hostels in Danapur and Gaya, offering residence to 150 and 100 girls, respectively. In addition to providing a safe haven, we also conduct special school programs for them, ensuring access to education and a brighter future.
